The South Sydney Rabbitohs are in a bit of a contract conundrum, with two players, Isaiah Tass and Peter Mamouzelos, seemingly on their way out. This isn't exactly a surprise for Mamouzelos, who's been rumoured to be leaving for a while, but Tass is a new addition to the list. Wayne Bennett, the coach, apparently isn't a fan of Mamouzelos' defensive skills, which has put him way down the pecking order. As for Tass, he's been struggling with an ACL injury, which has limited his playing time this year. The Rabbitohs are in a bit of a bind, trying to sort out their contracts and figure out what to do with Latrell Mitchell before making any long-term decisions. They're also in a contract freeze with all players except Tallis Duncan, who's off-contract at the end of next year. The club is waiting until the end of the season to make any big moves, to avoid distractions and to figure out their salary cap situation. It's a tricky situation, especially with the likes of Matt Dufty and Jamie Humphreys up for grabs. Humphreys, in particular, seems to be a wildcard, having backflipped on a deal with the Perth Bears. The Rabbitohs are also negotiating with Tallis Duncan, but it's clear they're prioritising him as the club's future leader. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out, but one thing's for sure: the Rabbitohs are in for a busy few months of contract negotiations.
